PAG Limited, established during the early eighties, is based
in South West London where it has a full manufacturing and servicing
facility, as well as its own R&D department. PAG's pioneering
ways has helped them to develop totally original designs employing
leading-edge technology that can be seen throughout their product
range today. PAG has broken many technological boundaries with
their products that can be seen in their fast-charging units for
video camera and power tool batteries, microprocessor-controlled
charging units, battery systems with run-time information in the
camera viewfinder and the battery and their cool-to-touch on-board
camera lights with inter-changeable lamp units.
On Board
Camera Lights
There
are three on board camera lights available, the original 12V
ENG Paglight, the smaller 12V Paglight M DVCam light and the
cute 6V Paglight C6 camcorder light. The Paglight's unique
patented design, constructed from a glass-reinforced engineering
polymer, makes it the coolest running and most versatile camera
light for the ENG/EFP professional. The Paglight, with its
focusable beam pattern and the unique rotatable barndoor system
that includes a pair of parallel barndoors, a dichroic filter
and a diffuser, gives the user great flexibility in shot making.
The plug-in lampholder system enables the Paglight to be the
first camera light that will work as either halogen or metal-halide
arc. The standard halogen lampholder will accept 20, 35, 50,
75 and 100 watt halogen bi-pin lamps. Adding optional lampholders
like the Softstart (to avoid over-current that happens sometimes
with Li-Ion batteries), the PowerMax (to avoid 12V lamp over-run
when used with 13.2V or 14.4V camera battery systems) or the
PowerArc, (which accepts 25 watt metal-halide arc lamp), the
video professional should be able to build the ultimate ENG
lighting kit.
The Paglight M is an ultra-compact 12V broadcast quality
light that embodies many features of the bigger Paglight,
including a focusable beam angle, PAG's patented plug-in lampholder
system, and a detachable power base. It was designed specifically
for smaller digital video cameras. A 24 watt PowerArc (equal
to 100 watt halogen) lamp and holder is available as an option.
The miniaturised Paglight C6 is a 6V camera top light designed
especially for use with smaller camcorders and includes many
of the features of the original. The Paglight C6 is supplied
in a complete kit that includes a 6V 7Ah Ni-Cd battery and
charger. The battery will run the Paglight C6 with a 20W lamp
for two and a quarter hours.
Hand
Held Lights
Paglight
L24 & L30 are hand-held compact and portable 250W fill-light
available in 24V and 30V models. They incorporate many features
of PAG's on-board camera light. Focusing is provided by a
lever situated on the side of the lamp body and is continuously
variable from narrow to wide angle. The lamp body and reflector
housing are constructed to maximise the heat dissipation and
impact resistance. These lights have a detachable power base
that incorporates a lead terminated with an XLR-4 connector.
This can be used to power the light from a Pagbelt IC2 or
Powerman battery. The base incorporates a 1/4" Whit.
bush which enables the light to be mounted to a tripod or
a handle.
PAG
Battery Systems
PAG batteries are available in a variety of
sizes, voltages, capacities and cell-chemistries, and incorporate
many unique, proprietary features designed to assist the cameraman,
including the industry’s most accurate capacity indication
and run-time display. PAG Digital System RTI surpasses all
existing battery status devices and displays remaining battery
power in hours, minutes and seconds. PAG's new ZL Series batteries
packs are certified lithium free and thus can be carried on
board airline flights as cabin baggage. PAG's range of batteries,
mounting adapters, belt-packs and charging systems are very
extensive to meet every brand and model of video camera system
imaginable. A visit to PAG's website is recommended to find
out what suits your DVCam system the best.
The
Orbitor & X1
PAG Orbitor Camcorder Support System provides
a balanced and stable shooting platform for ENG/EFP cameramen.
With the weight supported between the belt anchor and the
counter-balanced shoulder pad, it reduces fatigue on long
shoots. 3-axis control lets the user pan, tilt and roll, smoothly.
The camera feels weightless and control is effortless. It
allows for shooting at right-angles to the body, in a car
or on a narrow staircase and hands free resting is possible
between shots. The Orbiter is fully-adjustable for any operator
and for any camcorder. With facilities like quick-release
camera plate, counter-balance replaceable by battery pack
in use, adjustable cushioned shoulder pad and tough lightweight
construction that is quick to dismantle, the Orbitor is an
invaluable tool for the cameraman. The X1 Camcorder Support
System is a simplified, single-handed version of the Orbitor
that distributes the weight of the camcorder comfortably between
the arm and the shoulder, and provides a stable shooting platform.
