The DarkVader is a high precision, easy to use mechanical dimmer shutter for use with daylight HMI lamps. Software control and precision movement of the shutters provides a jerk free fading. An LCD display indicates programming possibilities in plain text with the possibility of stepless dimming for a HMI light unit.
Another feature is a real time drive. High resolution sensors provide exact, synchronous moves with a couple of devices. The light linearization adapts the brightness to the DMX value. This means 5% DMX adequates 5% brightness. Because of the special blades, the dimmer is absolutely light-proof when closed. A 16-Bit mode provides a high resolution drive. 65536 steps with two DMX-channels for the position are possible in this mode. This is a resolution of 0,0014°! The extreme speed proves light flashes of 0,2s. On the other hand, gradual fades over up to 2 hours are possible.
Darkvader is a perfect dimming tool for high output studio lighting system. Since the dimming is achieved thru mechanical means and without the defined steps of a potentiometer, it is possible to dim a light precisely to any desired lower level of light output. The dimmer knob on the lighting ballast, if featured, is rendered useless.
Used in conjunction with
Movie-Intercom's LFXHub with its preloaded program of "Lightning Strike" operating in DMX protocol, visually, a most realistic thunderstorm lightning effects can be created on location. Unlimited number of HMI lights (eachwith its own DarkVader shutter) can be cascaded to reproduce a very realistic full
fledged in-your-face tropical electrical storm over a large area.
